Frequently Asked Questions
The following are examples of questions the staff at Universal Investigation Services often receives from individuals and businesses in seeking a private investigator to assist with background checks, litigation support, or fraud investigations:
How can I start a background check on an employee?
You must first have the employee sign a release. Our office can provide you with the proper forms to get started.
Does the employee have to be hired before I can conduct a background screening?
Yes, but you can hire the employee on the condition that the background check meets the employer’s requirements. This is similar to requiring an applicant to pass an alcohol or drug test, which can only be conducted after making a conditional offer of employment.
What types of surveillance do you provide?
We capture video and still photography, and provide the images to the client in whatever format they want. We conduct surveillance for corporate, insurance, and workers’ compensation investigation purposes, but do not provide surveillance for domestic cases.
Does your company provide court or research documents?
Yes. We can obtain certified or non-certified copies of any records needed. As licensed investigators, we have access to many proprietary databases for obtaining information. Also, our staff works closely with courts and government agencies across the state and knows how to retrieve any type of information requested.
