Universal Investigation Services takes a unique approach to the private investigation profession. We employ a team of expert investigators, each with their own specialty or field of knowledge, a diversity that gives us the advantage of assisting businesses, medical institutions, the finance industry, and private citizens with any problem they may encounter, and then developing a solution.

Our background research team has access to information that a person can not obtain without the proper clearance or licensing. The personal contacts we have in the industry allow us to gather information our clients and competitors can not obtain through public data searches. We have a section of background experts that are extremely familiar with finance and the specific needs of this industry.

Glenn M. Thomas, Founder/Consultant

Mr. Thomas manages the employment background staff of our firm. Glenn Thomas is a retired commander of the New Mexico State Police Criminal Investigations Section, with 23 years of service. As commander he was responsible for managing over 1,200 investigative cases a year and supervised 65 commissioned detectives covering every corner of New Mexico. Glenn was routinely brought in as a consultant on the most difficult and high profile cases in the state’s history. His gift for seeing beyond the evidence and masterful interviewing techniques has earned him a reputation beyond reproach in the law enforcement community. Glenn is at his best when out of the box thinking is needed.

Kevin Bruno, Owner/Investigator

Mr. Bruno has been an investigator with UIS for over five years.  He started his investigative experience years ago with a small firm in New Mexico focusing on Workman’s Compensation Fraud.  He then spent 20 years with the New Mexico State Police with several of those years devoted to the Investigations Bureau.  He has handled a variety of investigations and has gained an understanding of how most investigations need to be tackled.  Kevin communicates very effectively and will work hard to meet the needs of the client.

Doug Shawn, Chief Investigator

Mr. Shawn manages the staff of our insurance and risk management investigations section. Doug Shawn is a retired homicide supervisor and detective with the Albuquerque Police Department, and has investigated or supervised hundreds of homicide investigations and violent crimes. His expertise in pathology as it relates to investigations has brought the best of both worlds to our medical malpractice defense investigations. Doug’s relentless research abilities and interviewing skills have helped save our medical provider clientele millions of dollars in unnecessary settlements. Doug is a stickler for details and will provide our clients with all of the tools to defend their position. He never stops digging!

Additional Investigators

UIS also has several other well qualified investigators throughout the state.  All of them come with a very extensive investigative background as well as being prior law enforcement.  We have two investigators in Las Cruces, one in Carlsbad, one in Santa Fe, and three in the Albuquerque area.
